First of all, I want to open todays post with a congrats to my cohort here at Two in the Box. Bob and his wife welcomed a son yesterday morning. Congrats, hermano!
Well, that was quick...one and done for the Terps in the ACC Tournament! Though they had a late surge to get within 1-point, with :23 left in the game, the Terps couldn't pull it out against the Canes. Apparently, it wasn't to be for any of the higher seeded teams in the tournament yesterday, as Duke lost to NC State in overtime, Florida State bumped Clemson, and Wake knocked off Ga Tech. All of the underdogs won their games. So today, in the ACC, the top 4 seeds (who had a bye yesterday) and the bottom 4 seeds will tangle. Craziness.
Honestly, I'm not that bent about the Terps losing. They'd been on a real tear as of late...and it's easy to think that you're better than you might be, and to think that your reputation preceeds you. Losing to Miami was a nice wake-up call, that i think Gary will use to get the troops re-focused for the NCAAs. (At least that's the way I'm spinning it this morning!)
Or forget drafting a running back. A few weeks ago, I encouraged the Ravens to not resign Jamal Lewis, and opt for a rookie out of this deep draft, instead. The Ravens one-upped me, and traded for Willis McGahee from Buffalo. When healthy, Willy-Mac is a top-5 talent. He is a dyamic back who can stretch the play, has the speed to get to the corner, and who hits the gap quickly, unlike Jamal, who took about 40 steps before getting to the line of scrimmage. I think this is a huge improvement to the Ravens offense. (Duh!)
(Boy, this DC/Baltimore area is just a MAGNET for those Miami Hurricanes, huh? Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Willis McGahee in Baltimore, Clinton Portis, Sean Taylor, Rocky McIntosh & Santana Moss in Washington.)
Speaking of Jamal Lewis...now that he's with the Browns, who is he going to get all his yards against!? The Browns are the only team that he's regularly produced numbers against in recent years. I expect he'll be amazing in practice, playing against them all week...but suffer on game-day, when he has to face non-Cleveland teams.
Caps skate tonight. Riding a 5-game losing slide, the Caps skate with Carolina tonight.
Have a good weekend!

Who let Jamal out? Anyhow thats a move I like,McGahee will dowell i nthsi offense and see abotu 100 mroe carries next season with the Ravens because they wont be playign from behind like the crappy Bills have done for seasons in a row. Terps, oh boy what can you say. I got home rom work turn the game on and Bowers is going for a simple D-reound, he falls out of bounds and the ball ands in the hands of a Miami player for an easy 2 points.......Spring is almost here but its spring in florida, go O's.
