Is it drafty in here?

OK, the local guys first...

The Ravens got some help on the line...which ws their most pressing need. Later on, they grabbed Ohio State QB (and Heisman winner) Troy Smith. I don't see Smith taking the reigns for the Ravens. I think they've got Kyle Boller to a point where he can be a productive QB. Having a few years to watch and learn from McNair has really benefited him...and I think they'll be ready to turn to Smilin' Kyle if McNair is hurt or hangs em up. I think the Troy Smith pick was a lark. That late, you're not wasting a pick by gambling on talent. My guess is that he'll finish camp as the Ravens #3 and probably can make spring plans for 2008 to be visiting Europe...I bet they allocate him to NFLE, hoping that when McNair retires, Smith will be a legit #2 (along the lines of Seneca Wallace in Seattle.)

I hated the Redskins draft. (But what's new?) If you have one big-hitter Safety (Taylor) you need a guy who can cover the other's back while hes trying to decapitate people. I think they're going to get burned deep a LOT this year. They needed help in the pass rushing dept. and they did not address defensive line at ALL! I don't know, a this point, unless they're thinking trade (which will have them hemoraging more draft picks, no doubt) where they will be able to address their lack of pass rushing. I was really hoping they'd work out a deal and get out of #6, pick up a #3 and grab Okoye a little later in the first round...but evidently there wasn't much interest in getting into #6 by anyone who wanted Brady Quinn. Bummer for him...and Skins fans.

I think the Browns did a great job. Stud tackle...picked up the franchise QB...the kid who grew up watching the Browns (except for those couple years where there were no Browns...) They're not going to be a doormat for long. (Man, that division is going to be a brawl. Bengals are good. Ravens are re-loaded. Steelers, I expect to be decent...that may be the tightest divisional race in the NFL this season.)

Moss to the Patriots!? Wow. New England is loaded for bear...or Colts, to be more to the point. Picking up Moss for a #4 pick that the Raider used for some guy who's Mom's never even heard of him? WOW! Tom Brady is already Wicked Awesome...and with a weapon like Moss? I'd have to make the Patriots my pre-season favorite for the SB.

Ravens, well they did well. They got a couple of future starting O-Lineman, a small steal with the KR/WR they picked and Smith, not a bad risk in the 5th round. they went very conservative this season and safe. The FB they picked up is the sleeper. Last season the Ravens had 11 rookies play a role in the 13-3 season. they are good at finding talent and there is no doubt the ravens 2007 draft will produce. in fact the ravens 1st round draft picks since 1996 have all started a good number of games for the ravens and with other NFL teams. So Grubbs has to be feeling good about himself.
1 Grubbs, G:Not a bad pick at all
2 Figurs, WR/KR:some say a Ginn but less of a risk in the 2nd and could be a steal
3 Yanda, OT/OG:will turn out to be a solid pick. will be starting by mid 2008
4 Barnes, LB:suppose to go to Miami but trouble held him, anyhow a LB under Lewis guide, he cant go wrong
5 McClain,FB:this kid could excel under the Billick offense.
6 Smith,QB:cant go wrong in the 5th. will be 3rd string behind mcnair, boller could be #2 man behind Boller and could see a start in 2009
7 Burgess,LB: again a LB learning from Lewis the kid cant go wrong
